Mizoram reports highest single-day count after Feb 26

 OUR REPORTER AIZAWL, MAR 26

At least six people, including a Border Security Force (BSF) jawan, have tested positive for novel coronavirus, taking Mizoram's Covid-19 caseload to 4,460, an official said Friday. This is the highest single-day count reported in 4 weeks after February 26.

The six fresh cases were reported from Aizawl district, the official said. While five patients have returned from other states, the 35-year-old BSF jawan was diagnosed with Covid-19 during contact tracing, he said. Among the five returnees, a 62-year-old woman and her 25-year old daughter have initially tested negative for Covid-19 on their arrival from Delhi but later developed symptoms of Covid-19 and subsequently found infected with the virus, he said.

Four of the six patients were asymptomatic.

Mizoram now has 23 active cases, while 4,426 people have recovered from the virus.

The state has reported 11 Covid-19 fatalities so far.

Altogether 2,49,029 samples have been tested till date, including 719 on Thursday.
