Mizoram logs 503 COVID-19 cases, 5 deaths in last 48 hours


Mizoram reported 503 COVID19 cases and at least 5 fatality in the last 48 hours between Saturday and Sunday, pushing the state’s Covid-19 tally to 13,567 and death toll to 53.


More than 100 children were among the newly infected people 236 cases were reported on Saturday and 267 on Sunday. Of the 503 fresh cases, Aizawl district accounted the highest at 244, followed by Kolasib district at 40. The remaining cases were reported from Lunglei, Champhai, Siaha, Lawngtlai, Saitual, Mamit, Khawzawl and Serchhip districts. Six patients have travel history, while the rest 497 were found to have locally contracted the infection.


The contact history of 168 patients among 497 locally infected is yet to be ascertained. Of the 503 patients, 232 patients have developed symptoms of Covid-19. Mizoram now has 3.239 active cases, while 10,275 people have recovered from the infection. The recovery rate is 75.74 per cent and the death rate is 0.39 per cent. The state has tested 4,09,868 samples for Covid-19 till date.
