Mizoram government has registered more than 14,000 healthcare workers for the first phase of Covid-19 vaccination, an official said today.
The statement said data collection for first round of nationwide vaccination to begin on January 16 is still underway.
Mizoram had successfully conducted dry run on January 2 and 8 to prepare for the vaccination.
Besided the State Steering Committee, the state government has also set up state-district-block level task forced on Covid-19 vaccine to oversee and monitor Covid-19 vaccination, the official statement said.
The state government has also identified four facilities-Aizawl Civil Hospital, Kulikawn Sub-District Hospital, Aizawl Urban Public Health Centre at Aizawl’s ITI neighbourhood and Lunglei Civil Hospital in the southern part of the state, where Covid-19 vaccination drive will launch along with rest of the country on January 16, it said.
It added that training programmes on Covid-19 vaccination were held on state-district-block level.
Covid-19 inoculation drive is scheduled to be kicked is scheduled to be kicked across the country on January 16 with priority given high-risk groups-healthcare workers (about 1 crore) and frontline workers, estimated to be around 2 crores.
The roll-out of Covid-19 vaccines to healthcare workers and frontline workers will be followed by people, above 50 years of age and the under-50 population groups with co-morbidities numbering around 27 crores, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) had earlier said.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday convened a virtual meeting with chief ministers of states and Lt. Governors of Union Territories to review preparedness for Covid-19 vaccination.
Mizoram chief minister Zoramthanga also took part in the meeting.
