The schools in Mizoram reopened for students of classes 10 and 12 from January 22.
The government of Mizoram has taken the call to reopen the schools in the state for students of classes 10 and 12, after 10 months of the closure of schools. The offline classes for these students resumed on January 22 with several precautions.
Officials stated that the schools in Mizoram are reopening for students of classes 10 and 12 only, in view of the upcoming board exams for this academic session. Both government and private schools have reopened in view of the board exams.
The schools have reopened for students of classes 10 and 12, amid strict adherence to Covid-19 guidelines, the official further stated. However, students have to undergo the rapid antigen test before entering hostels.
Schools and higher education institutes have been shut down across the country since March 2020 due to the rapid spread of the Covid-19 pandemic. Many states have now started reopening the schools with several safety guidelines.
Online classes for rest of the students Though the school have reopened for student of classes 10 and 12, Online classes will be conducted for the rest of the school students for the time being to avoid overcrowding in the institutes, said the official.
The schools in Mizoram had reopened earlier, October 16, for the students of classes 10 and 12 for off classes, but were shut down after a few days due to rise in Covid-19 cases in the state.
It was also reported that some students had tested positive for the virus after the initial reopening of school in Mizoram. Thus, the state is taking extensive measure ensure that the students and staff of schools are safe.
All students and staff members are instructed to wear masks on school premises at all times. Students also need to wash and sanitise their hands regularly and maintain proper social distancing in the classrooms. The seating arrangement of classes has also been changed.
