District level fire prevention meetings

District Level Fire Prevention Committee, Kolasib and Lawngtlai district held a meeting today to discuss the activities to be carried out during ‘Fire Prevention Week 2021’.

 

The meeting was chaired by Mr.Lallawmawma, Addl. DC and Mrs. N.Viji, IFS, DFO Kolasib talked on the highlights of the proposed programme.

 

The meeting agreed on making the best use of print as well as digital media platform to propagate fire prevention awareness messages and instructions, in order to avoid public campaigns with crowd gathering in times of the Covid pandemic. The meeting also decided to  rope in YMA in clearing dry leaves and twigs from fire prone areas in and around Kolasib town. All activities relates to burning of farmlands must be completed before March 15, 2021 and all such activities must carried out in consultation with the village Council and District  Local Administration Officer, prior to the deadline. Awareness in the form of banner and hoarding will also be put up at several strategic locations within Kolasib town.

 

A meeting of the District Level Committee on Fire Prevention (DLCFP), Lawngtlai district was a held today at the DC’s Conference Hall, Lawngtlai  under the chairmanship of  Additional Deputy Commissioner Lawngtlai  Marilyn Rualzakhumthangi.

 

After the Chairman welcome the members, Member Secretary, Lalromawia, DCCF LADC gave a brief report on previous year's performance and laid  a proposal for the current year.

 

The committee deliberated various proposals and suggestions and finalised  activities  to carried out this year including awareness  campaigns in different villages and schools, asking the support of VC’s NGOs and media for creating awareness, setting aside  workmandays of MGNREGA for  fire line cutting, issuing notification of 15th March as jhum burning day etc.

 

The Fire Prevention Week, 2021 will be observed during 8th to 13th February. The Inauguration of the week will be organized on 8th February, 2021 at the Dc’s Conference Hall. Best performing villages in fire prevention already selected for the year 2020 will be awarded at the week inauguration . The village Level Fire Prevention Award 2021 will also be carried out again this year.

 

Similar meeting was also held at Hnahthial today.
