Three cases push Mizoram's Covid-19 tally to 4,395

At least three people, including two students, have tested positive for novel coronavirus in the last 24 hours, taking the state's tally to 4,395, an official said.

 

The three fresh cases were reported from Aizawl, Champhai and Lawngtlai districts.

 

The new patients were asymptomatic and it is to ascertain how they contracted the virus, he said. The number of active cases now stands at 17 while 4,368 people have recovered from the virus. One person was discharged on Tuesday. The recovery rate is 99.39 per cent. With a 82-year-old man who succumbed to the infection on Monday, the Covid-19 death toll in the state is 10. The state has tested 2,21,744 samples till date including 1,134 on Monday. As many as 12,330 people, including 1,050 frontline workers have been administered the first dose of Covishield vaccine till date. According to state immunisation officer Dr Lalzawmi, 11,280 healthcare workers have been vaccinated out of 1,5750, who have been registered to receive vaccine.

 

She said that 227 people have been administered the second dose of vaccine so far.
