Mizoram reports two Covid cases, tally rises to 4,434

Two more persons, both males, have tested positive for novel coronavirus in Mizoram, taking the state’s Covid-19 caseload to 4,434, an official said.

 

The new cases were reported from Aizawl and Saitual districts, he said.

 

While one patient has returned from Manipur and was diagnosed with Covid-19 at a screening point on his arrival, the other was found infected with the virus in a private hospital in Aizawl, he said. Both the patients are asymptomatic, he added.

 

According to the health department, there are 9 active cases in the state, while 4,415 people (99.58 %) have already recovered from the virus. The Covid-19 death toll in the state is 10. The state has so far tested 2,39,750 samples and the infection rate is 1.85 per cent.

 

State immunisation officer Dr. Lalzawmi said that altogether, 37,784 people have been administered the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine since January 16. Of this, 11,722 were healthcare workers, 17,886 frontline workers, 589 people with comorbidities and 7,587 are old age people of 60 and above years, she said.

 

9,398 healthcare workers and 2 frontline workers have already received the second dose of vaccine till Tuesday, she added.
