Mizoram on Thursday reported three new Covid-19 cases, taking the state's tally to 4,476, an official said. Two cases were reported from Aizawl district and one from Hnahthial district, he said. Two women aged 23 and 21 have returned from Mumbai and Pune while a 3-year-old boy was diagnosed with Covid-19 during contact tracing, he said.
All the patients were asymptomatic. Mizoram now has 29 active cases while 4,436 people have recovered from the virus. So far, Aizawl reported the highest cases at 2,940 followed by Lunglei district, which reported 418 cases.
Of the 11 districts, Lunglei, Champhai, Kolasib, Serchhip, Lawngtlai, Mamit, Khawzawl and Saitual are Covid19 free as of now. The Covid-19 death toll in the state is 11. Altogether, 2,53,203 samples have been tested till date, including 803 on Wednesday. Meanwhile, state immunisation officer Dr. Lalzawmi said that as many as 52,882 people, including 17,422 senior citizens and 1,862 people with comorbidities have been administered the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine till Wednesday. 10,349 healthcare workers, 3,656 frontline workers and 13 senior citizens have received the second dose of vaccine, she said.
