At least 8 people, including 2 children, have tested positive for novel coronaviurs in Mizoram, pushing the state’s Covid-19 tally to 4,508, an official said on Wednesday. Of the 8 fresh cases, 6 cases were reported from Aizawl district and 2 cases from Kolasib district, the official said. Two children aged 3 and 11 and a frontline worker were among the newly infected people, he said. Four patients have returned from other states, while one patient was diagnosed with the disease during contact tracing and it is to ascertain how the remaining three patients contracted the virus, he said.
Five patients have developed symptoms of Covid-19 while the rest three are asymptomatic, he said. Mizoram now has 46 active cases, while 4,451 people have recovered from the virus.
The Covid-19 death toll in the state is 11. The state has tested 2,56,181 samples, including 1,149 on Tuesday. According to the health department, at least 57,408 people have been administered the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine, of which 18,044 people have received the second dose.
