Mizoram on Thursday once again reported the highest single-day spike in Covid-19 cases in nearly 3 months with 14 infections reported in the last 24 hours.
With this, the total number of Covid-19 cases in the state now stands at 4,522.
Notably, Mizoram had reported 17 cases in January 10 and again 9 cases on April 6, which were recorded highest single-day jump in recent time.
On September 10 last year, Mizoram reported 141 Covid-19 cases, which was the highest single-day spike ever reported in the state since the first Covid-19 case was detected on March 24 last year.
The state now has 57 active cases, while 4,454 people have recovered from the infection.
Of the 14 fresh cases, 13 cases were reported from Aizawl district and one from Mamit district, according to an official. A four family member, which includes two children aged 5 and 7 are among the newly infected people, the official said.
While 12 patients have returned from other states, the remaining 2 were diagnosed with Covid-19 during contact tracing, he said.
4 patients have developed symptoms of Covid-19, while the rest 10 patients were asymptomatic. Mizoram has reported at least 11 Covid-19 fatalities so far.
While the recovery rate is 98.49 per cent and the infection rate is 1.75 per cent. The state has so far tested 2,58,555 samples, including 1,374 on Wednesday. According to state immunisation officer Dr. Lalzawmi, at least 60,969 people have been administered the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine, of which 18,995 have completed the vaccination after receiving the second dose of the vaccine.
