Mizoram reports 29 Covid-19 cases, tally rises to 4.612

Mizoram on Sunday reported 29 fresh Covid-19 cases, taking the state’s tally to 4,612, an official said.

 

28 of the new cases were reported from Aizawl district while one case was reported from Mamit district, he said. Three minors and a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan were among the newly infected people.

 

Of the 29 patients, 8 have returned from other states, 4 patients have direct contact with positive patients and it is to ascertain how the remaining 17 patients contracted the virus, he said.

 

The 17 patients have done test on their own in private hospitals and were accordingly found infected with the virus, he said.

 

16 patients have developed symptom of Covid-19, while the rest 13 are asymptomatic, he added. Mizoram now has 137 active cases, while 4,464 people have recovered from the virus.

 

The Covid-19 death toll in the state is 11.

 

The state has tested 2,62,310 samples till date, including 1,582 on Saturday.

 

Six people were discharged on Sunday. The recovery rate is 96.79 per cent and the infection rate is 1.76 per cent.

 

Meanwhile, state immunization officer Dr. Lalzawmi said that as many as 70,523 people, including 21,137 senior citizens have been administered the first dose of Covid19 vaccine till Saturday.

 

Of the 70,523 people, 22,188 have already received the second dose of vaccine, she said.
