Mizoram has reported 112 new Covid19 cases in the past two days with 2.94 per cent infection rate, which took the tally in the northeastern state to 4,859.
62 cases were reported on Saturday while 50 cases were reported on Sunday.
At least 3,814 samples were tested on Saturday and Sunday.
Of the 112 fresh cases, cases were reported from Aizawl district, 23 from Lunglei district, 8 from Lawngtlai district, 4 from Serchhip district, 2 each from Kolasib and Champhai district and one case was reported from Mamit district. A woman and her 7-monthold baby and also 21 policemen, who had gone to Assam for the assembly elections were among the newly infected people. Of the new infected people, 50 patients have travel history.
31 patients have development symptoms of Covid-19, while the remaining 81 are asymptomatic. Mizoram now has 338 active cases, while 4,509 people have already recovered from the virus. 26 people were discharged from various Covid-19 care centres on Sunday.
The Covid-19 death toll in the state is 12. The state has so far conducted 2,74,993 sample tests for COVID-19, including 1,745 on Saturday.
State immunisation officer Dr. Lalzawmi said that 1,19,151 people, including 28,915 senior citizens, have been inoculated till Saturday, and 32,640 of them have received both doses of the Covid-19 –vaccine.
