Mizoram reports 105 fresh infection:

 Staff Reporter Aizawl, April 25:

Mizoram has reported 105 fresh infections of COVID-19 and one fatality during the last 24 hours, pushing the virus caseload to 5,388 and death toll to 13.

 

Former Congress minister P.C. Zoramsangliana succumbed to the infection at 5:20pm Saturday and his mortal remain was laid to r rest at 11:00am Sunday.

 

The 105 new cases were detected from 2,300 samples tested on Saturday, taking the positivity rate for the particular day to 4.56 per cent.

 

Of the new cases, 99 were reported from Aizawl district, four from Kolasib district and two Lawngtlai district.

 

Of the new patients 68 were locally infected while the rest had travel history.

 

The new patients included 12 children, including a 10-monjth-old baby.

 

Mizoram had reported 63 new cases on Saturday.

 

The State now has 712 active cases while 4,663 people have recovered from the disease.

 

Meanwhile, with local infected cases still on the rise, the Mizoram government has decided to extend the seven-day lockdown which is due to expire on Monday for another seven days, till May 3.
