Mizoram continue to register a spike in Covid-19 cases as 103 more cases were reported on Tuesday, taking the state’s Covid-19 caseload to 5,513, an official said.
8 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawans, 2 Assam Rifles personnel, 19 children and 3 elderly people were among the newly infected people, he said.
Of the 103 fresh cases, Aizawl reported the highest at 86, followed by Mamit district, which reported 6 cases, he said.
New Covid-19 cases were also reported from Lunglei, Serchhip, Kolasib, Champhai and Lawngtlai districts. 3
9 patients have travel history, while the rest 64 contracted the virus through local transmission, the official said.
Of the 103 patients, 33 have developed symptoms of Covid-19, he said.
Mizoram now has 767, while 4,733 people have recovered from the infection.
2 People have recovered on Tuesday.
The recovery rate is 85.86 per cent the infection rate is 1.88 per cent.
The infection rate for Tuesday was 3 per cent. The Covid-19 death toll in the state is 13.
The state has so far conducted 2,93,904 samples test including 3,488 on Monday.
Of the total 5,513 cases, Aizawl reported the highest at 3,751, followed by Lunglei district, which reported 457 cases so far.
Hnahthial reported the lest at 24 cases.
As of now, only Khawzawl is Covid- 19 free district.
Meanwhile, state immunization officer Dr. Lalzawmi said that a total of 1,76,327 people, including 43,627 senior citizens have been administered the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine till Monday and 43,264 of them have received both the doses.
