With 229 new cases, Mizoram today reported the highest ever single rise of COVID-19 cases. The new patients included 108 Mizoram police personnel who returned from West Bengal elections, an official statement said. The 229 cases put the state’s tally at 5,742.
Of the remaining civilians, 89 were locally infected while 32 have travel history. The 229 new cases were detected from 3,305 samples tested on Tuesday, putting positivity rate for the single day at 6.92 per cent. Mizoram now has 986 active cases while 4,743 people have recovered from the infection.
