Mizoram’s Covid-19 count reached 6,358 on Monday as 74 more people have tested positive for novel coronavirus, an official said.
The state also reported 2 more fatalities in 10 hours which mounted the death toll to 17, the official said.
He said that at least 1,231 samples were tested in the last 24 hours and 6 per cent of them came out positive for Covid-19.
Of the 74 fresh cases, 42 cases were reported from Aizawl district, 18 from Lunglei district, 8 from Lawngtlai district, 5 from Saitual district and one case was reported from Kolasib district, he said.
While 4 cases were confirmed at TrueNat laboratories, 70 cases were detected using Rapid Antigen Test.
16 children and 6 elderly people were among the newly infected people, he said.
4 patients have travel history while the rest were found to have locally contracted the infection. Of the 74 patients, 53 patients have developed symptoms of Covid-19.
Mizoram now has 1,229 active cases, while 5,112 people have recovered from the infection. 66 people have recovered on Monday.
Meanwhile, two men aged 64 and 55 from Aizawl have succumbed to the infection at Zoram Medical College (ZMC) on Sunday evening and Monday.
While the 55-year-old victim was diagnosed with Covid-19 on April 15, the 64-year-old man was found infected with the virus on April 30.
The northeastern state has conducted 3,10,058 samples test till date.
According to state immunisation officer Dr. Lalzawmi, 2,09,089 people have been administered the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine and 46,018 of them have received both the doses till May 1.
Commencing from Monday, the government has imposed lockdown in all district headquarters, including state capital Aizawl.
The lockdown will remain in force till 4 am of May 11.
