Mizoram logs 184 new Covid-19 cases, one fatality

Mizoram on Wednesday reported 184 new Covid-19 cases, taking the state’s tally to 9,252, an official said.

 

The state also reported one fatality as a 71-year-old man succumbed to the infection at Zoram Medical College (ZMC) on Wednesday.

 

With this the death toll has reached 30.

 

Of the 184 fresh cases, 82 were confirmed at Zoram Medical College’s RTPCR laboratory, 4 at TrueNat facilities and 98 cases were detected through Rapid Antigen Test, he said.

 

More than 41 children, including a 10- month old baby have also tested positive for Covid-19, he said.

 

Of the fresh cases, Aizawl district reported 127 cases, Kolasib district-36, Saitual district3, Lawngtlai district-7, Serchhip district-5, Lunglei district-2 and 1 case each was reported from Siaha, Champhai, Khawzawl and Mamit districts.

 

Three patients have travel history, while 129 were diagnosed during contact tracing and it is to ascertain how the remaining 52 patients contracted the virus, the official said.

 

While 68 patients have developed symptoms of Covid-19, the rest 116 are asymptomatic. Mizoram also reported 239 Covid-19 cases on Tuesday.

 

The number of active cases now stands at 2,041, while 7,181 people have already recovered from the infection.

 

Mizoram has conducted 3,52,902 samples test till date, including 2,598 on Tuesday.

 

2,40,968 people have been already inoculated and of this 51,955 people have received both doses of Covid-19 vaccine till Wednesday.
