Mizoram on Friday registered the highest single-day spike as 296 people, including 4 security personnel, have tested positive for novel coronavirus, pushing the state’s Covid-19 caseload to 9,740, an official statement said.
Of the 296 fresh cases, 105 were confirmed at Zoram Medical College’s RT-PCR laboratory, 5 at TrueNat facilities and the remaining 186 cases were detected through Rapid Antigen Test, he said.
Aizawl district reported the highest cases at 220 cases, followed by Champhai and Kolasib districts which reported 23 and 22 cases respectively.
The remaining cases were reported from Lunglei, Saitual, Serchhip, Lawngtlai and Mamit districts.
Three Border Security Force (BSF) jawans, an Assam Rifles personnel and healthcare worker were among the newly infected people, the official said.
More than 50 children, including a 3-month old baby, have tested positive for Covid-19, he said.
Twelve patients have travel history, while the rest were found to have locally contracted the virus.
Of the 296 patients, 144 have developed symptoms of Covid-19.
The number of active cases now stands at 2,252, while 7,450 people have recovered from the infection.
The Covid-19 death toll in the state is 30. The state has tested 3,59,267 samples till date, including 4,741 on Thursday.
As many as 2,44,547 people have been administered the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine and among them 51,956 have received both the doses till Thursday.
