Mizoram reported two more COVID19 death and 228 new infections with a single-day positivity rate of 6.97 per cent on Thursday.
The total Covid-19 count now stands at 12,859.
Two persons from Aizawl aged 92 and 57 died of the infection at Zoram Medical College (ZMC) on Wednesday night and Thursday, which took the death toll to 46, state information and public relations department said in its official Twitter handle.
The victims have comorbidities, it said.
Mizoram reported at least 11 Covid-19 fatalities in five consecutive days since Sunday and the average positivity rate during these five days was 8.62 per cent.
Of the fresh 228 cases, Aizawl district registered 153 cases, Lunglei district 25, Lawngtlai district 21, Kolasib district 17, Siaha district 6, Mamit district 5 and Champhai district reported 1 case, an official statement said on Thursday.
More than 43 children and one each of healthcare worker and policeman were among the newly infected people, it said.
Three patients have travel history, while the rest were found to have locally contracted the infection.
Of the 225 locally infected patients, the contact history of 41 patients are yet to be ascertained, it said. 151 patients have developed symptoms of Covid-19 and 55 are asymptomatic.
Mizoram now has 3,235 active cases, while 9,578 people have recovered from the infection. At least 84 people were discharged from various Covid-19 Care Centres on Thursday.
The recovery rate is 74.49 per cent and the death rate is 0.36 per cent.
The state has so far tested 4,00,698 samples for Covid-19, including 3,267 on Wednesday. According to state immunisation officer Dr. Lalzawmi, as many as 2,61,346 people have been administered the first dose of Covid19 vaccine and out of this 52,149 have been fully vaccinated till Thursday.
