Mizoram reports 205 Covid-19 cases, 2 deaths

Mizoram Covid-19 count reached 13,064 on Friday as 205 people, including over 50 children, have tested positive for novel coronavirus, an official said. The death toll has also climbed to 48 as two persons have succumbed to the infection on Thursday night and Friday, he said.

 

The 205 fresh cases detected from 2,978 samples tested on Thursday, put the single-day's positivity rate at 6.88 per cent.

 

Of the fresh cases, Aizawl district accounted the highest cases at 157, followed by Lunglei district, which reported 18 cases, the official said.

 

Lawngtlai district reported 17 cases, Champhai district (6) Mamit and Saitual districts reported 3 each and Siaha district reported 1 case.

 

Only one patient has a travel history, while the rest 204 were found to have locally infected and the contact history of 57 patients are yet to be ascertained, according to the official.

 

Of the 205 patients, 110 patients have developed symptoms of Covid19. Mizoram now has 3,320 active cases, while 9,696 people have recovered from the infection. At least 94 people were discharged from various Covid-19 Care Centres on Friday. The total recovery rate is 74.22 per cent and the death rate is 0.37 per cent. The state has tested 4,03,676 samples for Covid-19 till date.

 

According to state immunisation officer, as many as 2,61,346 people, including 17,557 beneficiaries of 18-44 age group, have been administered the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine till Thursday. Of the 2,61,346 beneficiaries, 52,149 have been fully vaccinated, she said.
