Mizoram reported 113 Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the state’s tally to 13,679, an official said Monday.
The state also reported two more Covid-19 fatalities, pushing the death toll to 55, he said. Two persons aged 30 and 42 have succumbed to the infection at Zoram Medical College (ZMC) on Sunday night and Monday morning, he said.
The 30-year-old woman was conceiving for six month, he said.
The single day positivity rate was 15.14 per cent as 113 out of 746 samples tested have come out positive for Covid19, he said. According to the official, at least 12 persons per 1000 population are infected with Covid-19 based on the number of population in 2011 census.
Of the fresh 113 cases, Aizawl district reported 75 cases, 9 from Lunglei district, 6 from Kolasib district, 4 from Saitual district, 17 from Lawngtlai district and one case each was reported from Mamit and Khawzawl districts.
More than 30 children, including a two-month old baby, were among the newly infected people, the official said.
68 patients were diagnosed with Covid-19 during contact tracing and it is to ascertain how the remaining 48 patients contracted the infection, he said.
Of the 113 patients, 58 have developed symptoms of Covid-19, he said.
Mizoram now has 3,161 active cases, while 10,463 people have recovered from the infection. At least 118 people were discharged from various Covid-19 Care Centres on Sunday after they were declared fully “recovered.”
The recovery rate is 76.49 per cent and the death rate is 0.41 per cent.
The state has tested 4,10,614 samples for Covid-19 till date.
