Mizoram ENVIS Hub along with its Host Institute, Mizoram Pollution Control Board (MPCB) observed Green Mizoram Day 2021, which was celebrated all over the state on 11th June, with the theme ‘Plant trees for better water source and environment’ in the mist of COVID-19 pandemic.
As part of observance of the day, saplings of fruit bearing trees such as Bombay mango, Seedless lychee, Gooseberry, Williams pear, avocado and other species including the state tree namely Iron wood, Ashoka tree and Malaysian ficus obtained by the Hub and MPCB were distributed to some school and college eco-clubs within Aizawl for further plantation at their respective institutional premises.
On 11th June, 2021 tree plantation programme was also carried out by ENVIS Team and MPCB staff on a smaller scale at available spaces within the premises of the office.
The programmes so organised as part of observance of Green Mizoram Day were carried out with strict compliance of COVID-19 SOPs.
