17 of every 10,000 population in Mizoram test positive for COVID-19

 Staff Reporter Aizawl, June 25:

With 18,859 total cases of COVID-19 in Mizoram which has a population of about 11 lakhs, 17 persons of every 10,000 have tested positive for the deadly virus, an official statement said today.

 

The current death toll at 89 is eight in every one lakh population as per 2001 population, it added.

 

Mizoram logged 224 fresh infections of COVID-19 and two deaths due to the infection, taking the state’s tally and toll to 18,859 and 89 respectively.

 

Of the new cases, 34 were detected through RTPCR, 15 through Truenat labs and 175 through RAT.

 

Detected from 3,413 samples, the 224 new cases put the single-day’s positivity rate at 6.56 per cent.

 

A 61-year-old woman and a 54-year-old man, both residents of Aizawl, died due to COVID-19 during the last 24 hours.

 

Of the 224 new cases, Aizawl reported the highest at 132, followed by Kolasib and Lawngtlai with 25 and 23 cases. Few cases were also reported seven other districts.

 

With 153 recovered patients being discharged today, Mizoram has 4,301 active cases while a total of 14,469 people have recovered from the disease so far.
