Mizoram reported 465 new Covid-19 cases band two fatalities which bushed both the Covid-19 count to 19,324 and death toll to 91. At least 233 people, including 62 children and two security personnel, have tested positive for novel coronavirus on Sunday, while 232 people, including 49 children tested positive for the infection on Saturday. The fresh cases were reported from various district with Aizawl registering the highest at 262. While the positivity rate on Sunday was 6.51 per cent, it was 5.75 on Saturday. 14 patients have travel history and the rest 451 were found to have locally contracted the infection.
Mizoram now has 4,248 COVID-19 active cases, while 14,985 people have recovered from the virus, including 431 people in the past two days. Mizoram has tested over 4.76 lakh samples for COVID19 so far. According to state immunisation officer Dr. Lalzawmi, over 4.9 lakh people have been inoculated and 54,078 of them have received both the doses of vaccine till Saturday.
Meanwhile, the state government has opened Mega Kiosk COVID-19 Testing Centre' at Vanapa Hall, the state-owned auditorium in Aizawl on Saturday to facilitate and accelerate Covid-19 sample testing for any desirous person. Additional COVID-19 testing centres were also opened in other parts of the state on Saturday.
