946 new Covid-19 cases, 5 deaths in two days


 Mizoram has reported 946 new Covid-19 cases and 5 deaths in the past two days Saturday and Sunday. The Covid-19 count in the state now stands at 27,153 and death rate at 122.


While 483 cases were reported on Saturday, 463 were reported on Sunday.


At least 9,705 samples were tested for Covid-19 in the past two days and the average positivity rate was 9.75 per cent.


The fresh cases were reported from various districts with Aizawl reporting the highest at 573, followed by Lunglei and Kolasib districts both reported 131 and 95 cases. 244 children and three security personnel were among the newly infected people.


Five patient have travel history, while the rest were found to have contracted the infection locally, the official said.


Mizoram now has 5,805 Covid-19 active cases, while 21,226 people have recovered from the infection.


The recovery rate among Covid-19 patients is 78.17 per cent and death rate is 0.44 per cent. The northeastern state has tested over 5.55 lakh samples for Covid-19 till date.


According to state immunisation officer Dr. Lalzawmi, as many as 6 lakh people have been inoculated till Saturday, of which over 1.28 lakh have received both doses of vaccine.
