Mizoram logs 625 new Covid-19 cases, 3 deaths

625 more people, including 141 children and 7 security personnel, have tested positive for novel coronavirus, pushing the state's tally to 29,645, while three more deaths took the death toll to 130, a health department official said on Thursday.

 

The fresh cases were reported from various districts with Aizawl registering the highest at 346, followed by Lunglei district at 136 and Mamit district at 33, the official said.

 

90 fresh cases were confirmed at RTPCR laboratory in Zoram Medical College (ZMC), while 474 were detected through Rapid Antigen Test and 61 through TrueNat tests, he said. 10 patients have travel history, while 615 were found to have contracted the infection locally, he said. The single-day positivity rate was 14.27 per cent as the fresh cases were detected from 4,378 samples.

 

Of the 625 patients, 279 have developed symptoms of Covid-19.

 

Mizoram now has 7,039, while 22,476 people have recovered from the infection, including 154 people on Thursday.

 

The recovery rate among Covid-19 patients is 75.81 per cent and mortality rate is 0.43 per cent.

 

The state has tested 5,73,582 samples for Covid-19 till date.

 

According to state immunisation officer Dr. Lalzawmi, over 6.13 lakh people have been inoculated till Wednesday.
