Mizoram logs 281 Covid-19 cases, lowest spike since July 12



Mizoram on Monday reported 281 new Covid-19 cases, the lowest spike in nearly a month since July 12.


The new cases have pushed the total tally to 44,520, of which 11,727 are active, an official said.


The number of cases being detected was few because sample test was not done at Zoram Medical College (ZMC) on Sunday, he said.


Of the 281 fresh cases, 278 were detected through Rapid Antigen Test and 3 at a TrueNat laboratory, he said.


196 new Covid-19 cases were reported from Aizawl district, 29 from Kolasib district, 27 from Lunglei district, 19 from Lawngtlai district, 8 from Mamit district, and 2 from Champhai district. 61 children were among the newly infected people.


The death toll has climbed to 168 as one more person died at ZMC in the last 24 hours.


As many as 32,625 people have recovered from the infection, including 419 on Monday. Mizoram has tested more than 6.81 lakh samples for Covid-19 till date. According to state immunisation officer Dr.Lalzawmi, over 6.39 lakh people have been inoculated with Covid-19 vaccine till Saturday of which 2 lakh have received both doses of the vaccine.
