Mizoram Covid-19 count crossed a 45,000 mark on Tuesday as 937 more people, including 196 children, have tested positive for the infection, a health department official said.
The single-day positivity rate was 12.11 per cent as the fresh cases were detected from 7,733 samples, the official said. The total Covid-19 cases stands at 45,457, of which 12,015 are active while 33,271 people have already recovered from the infection, including 417 people on Tuesday, he said.
The Covid-19 death toll in the state climbed to 171 as three more people have succumbed to the infection at Zoram Medical College (ZMC) in the last 24 hours, he said.
166 new cases were confirmed at a RT-PCR laboratory in ZMC, while 699 were detected through Rapid Antigen Test from various districts and the remaining 72 cases were found through TrueNat tests.
The fresh 937 cases were reported from various districts with Aizawl reporting the highest at 600, followed by Kolasib at 103 and Lawngtlai at 74. Eight patients have travel history and the rest 929 were found to have contracted the infection locally, the official said. Of the 937 patients, 436 have developed symptoms of Covid-19, he said. The recovery rate among Covid-19 patients is 73. 19 per cent and death rate is 0.37 per cent, he said. Mizoram has tested more than 6.89 lakh samples for Covid-19 till date. According to state immunisation officer Dr.Lalzawmi over 6.4 lakh people have been vaccinated, of which 2 lakh people have received full dose of the Covid-19 vaccine till Monday. Health minister Dr. R. Lalthangliana said that Covid-19 consignments, which were halted in Delhi for several days, have safely arrived in the state on Monday. The consignment included 20,000 each of Viral Transport Medium (VTM), RNA extraction kits and RT-PCR kits, he said.
