At least 639 people, including 139 children, have tested positive for novel coronavirus in Mizoram, pushing the state's tally to 49,350, an official statement said on Tuesday.
The fresh cases were reported from various districts with Aizawl reporting the highest at 399, followed by Kolasib at 97 and Mamit at 32, the statement said.
The single-day positivity rate was 6.25 per cent as the fresh cases were detected from 10,210 samples, it said.
With the 639 fresh cases, at least 45 persons per 1,000 population based on the total population according to 2011 census, have so been infected with Covid-19, the statement said.
It said that three patients have travel history while the rest 636 were found to have locally contracted the virus.
The total percentage of Covid-19 cases detected in the last 24 hours through RT-PCR test was 9.22, TreNat test (4.55), Rapid Antigen Test (5.81) and Fluorescent Immunoassay (FIA) test (14.28), it said.
317 patients have developed symptoms of Covid-19 and the remaining 322 are asymptomatic. Mizoram now has 8,808 Covid-19 active patients, while 40,358 people have recovered from the infection, including 702 people on Tuesday till 5 pm.
At least 184 people have succumbed to the infection so far.
According to officials, at least 17 persons per 1 lakh population (as per 2011 census), have died due to Covid19.
The recovery rate among Covid-19 patients is 81.77 per cent ant the death rate is 0.37 per cent. The state has tested more than 7.45 lakh samples for Covid-19 so far.
According to state immunisation officer Dr. Lalzawmi, over 6.47 lakh people have been vaccinated, of which 2.22 lakh people have received full dose of the Covid-19 vaccine till Tuesday.
