Mizoram reported 1,766 new Covid-19 cases in two days between Saturday and Sunday, pushing the state's tally to 57,522, while three more fatalities took the death toll to 212.
While 886 cases were reported on Saturday 880 cases and three deaths were reported on Sunday.
The fresh cases were reported from various districts with Aizawl reporting the highest at 769, followed by Lunglei district at 236.
At least 19,151 samples were tested in the last two days which put the positivity rate at 9.3 per cent.
At least 352 children, six healthcare frontline workers and a Border Security Force (BSF) jawan were among the newly infected people, he said.
13 patients have travel history, while the rest 1,753 were found to have locally contracted the virus.
The number of active cases now stands at 8,140, while 49,170 people have recovered from the infection, including 202people on Saturday till 5 pm.
The recovery rate among Covid-19 patients is 85.48 per cent and the death rate is 0.36 per cent.
The state has tested more than 8.34 lakh samples for Covid-19 till date.
Over 6.54 lakh people have been vaccinated till Saturday of which 2.35 lakh have received full dose of vaccine, according to state immunisation officer Dr. Lalzawmi.
