Mizoram logs 440 new Covid-19 cases, 2 deaths

At least 440 people, including 88 children, have tested positive for novel coronavirus in Mizoram in the last 24 hours, taking the state's tally to 57,962, a health department official said on Monday.

 

The death toll rose to 214 as two more people died at Zoram Medical College (ZMC).

 

The fresh cases were reported from various districts with Aizawl reporting the highest at 310, followed by Mamit district at 74 and Kolasib district at 15, he said.

 

The single-day positivity rate is 22.59 per cent as the fresh cases were detected from 1,948 samples, he said. All the patients were found to have locally contracted the virus, he said.

 

The number of active cases now stands at 8,151, while 49,597 people have recovered from the infection, including 358 people on Monday till 5 pm.

 

The recovery rate among Covid- 19 patients is 85.56 per cent and the death rate is 0.36 per cent.

 

The state has tested more than 8.47 lakh samples for Covid-19 till date.

 

Over 6.55 lakh people have been vaccinated till Monday of which 2.36 lakh have received full dose of vaccine, according to state immunisation officer Dr. Lalzawmi.
