At least 413 children were among 8,614 people, who tested positive for Covid-19 in the past two days between Saturday and Sunday, an official said.
The Covid-19 count crosses a 70,000 mark on Sunday as 1,089 people have newly tested positive for the infection, he said.
On Saturday, the state reported 725 Covid-19 cases.
The death toll rose to 234 as four more people have succumbed to the infection between Saturday and Sunday, he said.
The single-day infection rate rose from 10.73 per cent on Saturday to 13.98 per cent on Sunday, he said.
Of the total 8,614 cases reported in two days, Aizwal district reported the highest number of fresh cases at 1,073, followed by Lunglei 144 and Siaha at 121, he said.
Of the 8,614 patients, at least 918 have developed symptoms of Covid-19, he said.
Mizoram total Covid-19 count now stands at 70,840, of which 12,016 are active.
As many as 58,543 people have recovered from the infection, including 368 on Sunday till 5 pm, a government bulletin said.
At least 63 persons per 1,000 thousand population in Mizoram have been infected with Covid-19 so far. 21 persons per 1 lakh population have succumbed to the infection till date, it said. The state has conducted more than 9.63 lakh sample tests till date, it said.
According to state immunisation officer Dr. Lalzawmi, over 6.63 lakh people have been vaccinated till Saturday, of which 2.98 lakh have received full doses.
