CM graces World Bamboo Day Virtual Conference

Chief Minister Zoramthanga graced a World Bamboo Day conference on Saturday as the Chief Guest.

 

The virtual conference is jointly organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Government of Nagaland with the theme, "Challenges, Opportunities and The Way Forward in North East."

 

The Chief Minister in the program said the Northeast states play an important role in the Central government’s initiatives in bamboo development.

 

He said it is not only enough for the people to engage in bamboo plantations but there is also a need to reduce transportation costs and the need for construction of bamboo link roads. He further said that each state needs to work together at a united front for bamboo development as it will greatly boost the economy.

 

Abhijit Barooah, Chairman CII NE Council & MD Premier Cryogenics Ltd. also spoke at the virtual conference saying bamboo is a key step to development for the Northeast states and will be useful for Entrepreneurs, start-ups and farmers as a sustainable means of livelihood. Dr. Alka Bhargava, IFS, PCCF & HOFF, Govt of Assam, Sanjay Kumar Singh, IAS, Secretary Ministry of DONER, LM Jamir, CII Nagaland State Council & MD Symbios Creations Pvt Ltd.. Dina Chhangte, Founder King Industries, Dr. N Barathi, MD Growmore Bio-Tech Ltd., Dr. Aotoshi Past Chairman, CII Nagaland Council & CEO, Window Media, Kamesh Salam, Founder & ED South Asia Bamboo Foundation and Bhargav Siddhanta, GM Bamboo Technology Park were part of the conference.
