Mizoram logs 1,294 Covid-19 cases, 8 deaths

At least 1,294 people, including 250 children have tested positive for novel coronavirus in Mizoram on Thursday, pushing the state's tally to 84,109, an official said.

 

The death toll rose to 278 as eight more people have succumbed to the infection, he said.

 

The single-day infection rate was 15.41 per cent as the fresh cases were detected from 8,396 sample tests, he said.

 

The fresh cases were reported from various districts with Aizawl district reporting the highest at 829, followed by Siaha at 128 and Lawngtlai at 103, he said.

 

At least 662 patients have developed symptoms of Covid-19, he added. Mizoram now has 14,954 active cases, while 68,877 people have recovered from the infection.

 

At least 678 people have recovered on Thursday.

 

The state has conducted more than 10.42 lakh sample tests for Covid-19 till date.

 

According to state immunisation officer Dr. Lalzawmi, over 6.74 lakh people have been vaccinated till Wednesday, of which 3.95 lakh people have received full doses.

 

Mizoram is the third worst Covid-19 affected state in the country after Kerela and Maharashtra.
