Meeting of Lunglei Town Sanitation Task Force held

A meeting of the Lunglei Town Sanitation Task Force was held today at the DC Conference Hall under the Chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Kulothungan A.

 

The meeting was attended by Govt. Officials, NGOS and Village Council members of Lunglei Town VC Area.

 

Today’s meeting discussed three main agendas namely – Observation of Cleanliness Week 2021 & Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, and preparation for the upcoming ‘Mizoram Khawpui Fai Inelna 2021’ (Mizoram Cleanliness Competition) organized by UD&PA. Stating that maintaining cleanliness and proper sanitation is the civic duty of every citizen of India, Deputy Commissioner Kulothungan A appealed to the stakeholders present to continue to focus on cleanliness, and motivate citizens in their respective areas to be more proactive and participative in sanitation related drives.

 

The Chairman also thanked Line Departments & NGOs, VCs and the general public for their contribution towards Lunglei District winning ‘Overall Cleanest Town’ & ‘1st Rank for District Headquarter’ at ‘Cleanliness Competition in Urban Mizoram - 2020’ organized by the UD&PA Department, and sought their continued cooperation for the competition in 2021. Along with the rest of the State, Cleanliness Week 2021 will be inaugurated for Lunglei District on 2nd October,2021 with activities such as voluntary mass cleanliness drive, cleanliness drive at government offices, awareness campaigns through different media etc are chalked out for the entire week.

 

With regards to Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, Mizo Gospel singer Pensy B Lalthangliani has been roped in as the Lunglei District Local Ambassador.

 

The initiative is slated to commence from the 29th of September, with activities such as door to door campaign on segregation and sanitation by SHGs, cleanliness feedback through Digital Monitoring APP for caretakers, Waste to art exhibition and workshop/ felicitation for sanitation workers with awards to be handed over to Best Sanitation Workers (Male & Female) in Lunglei town.
