Mizoram logs 1,380 new Covid-19 cases, 3 deaths

Mizoram continues to register a spike in Covid-19 cases as 1,380 more people, including 248 children, have tested positive for novel coronavirus, pushing the state's tally 91,919, a health official said.

 The death toll rose to 306 as three more people have succumbed to the infection, he said.

 

The state registered the highest single-day spike of 1,846 people on Tuesday. Aizawl district reported the highest fresh cases at 890, followed by Lunglei district (163) and Siaha district (94).

 

The single-day positivity rate was 19.28 per cent as the fresh cases were detected from 7,156 sample tests, the official said.

 

At least 719 patients have developed symptoms of Covid-19, he added. Mizoram now has15,431 active cases, while 76,182 people have recovered from the infection so far. The recovery rate among Covid19 patients is 83.15 per cent and the death rate is 0.33 per cent. The state has conducted more than 10.87 lakh sample tests for Covid-19 till date. According to state immunisation officer Dr. Lalzawmi, over 6.79 lakh people have been vaccinated till Tuesday, of which 4.28 lakh people have received full doses.
