India registered 15,823 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, which was 10.5 per cent higher than what the country had witnessed a day before.
India registered 15,823 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, which was 10.5 per cent higher than what the country had witnessed a day before, informed the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) on Wednesday. The total Covid caseload in India has increased to 3,40,01,743.
The top five states which registered maximum cases in the last 24 hours are Kerala with 7,823 cases, followed by Maharashtra with 2,069 cases, Tamil Nadu with 1,289 cases, Mizoram with 1,224 cases and West Bengal with 768 cases.
These five states reported 83.26 per cent of the new cases, with Kerala alone responsible for 49.44 per cent of the new cases.
A total of 226 deaths were reported during the same time, increasing the total reported death count to 4,51,189. Maximum casualties were also reported in Kerala with 106 people dying in the last 24 hours, followed by Maharashtra with 43 deaths.
Meanwhile, a total of 22,844 patients recovered in the last 24 hours, which brought the total recoveries to 3,33,42,901 across the country. As of Wednesday morning, India's recovery rate stood at 98.06 per cent.
Also, India's active caseload declined by 7,247 in the last 24 hours. The active caseload stands at 2,07,653.
India has administered a total of 50,63,845 doses in the last 24 hours, which has taken the total tally of doses administered to 96,43,79,212.
