Mizoram logs 665 new COVID-19 cases

Mizoram on Wednesday reported 665 new COVID-19 cases, 288 less than the COVID-19 cases reported on the previous day, with the tally increasing to 1,14,466, an official said.

 

On Tuesday, the northeastern state reported 953 cases.

 

The official said that the state registers wane in COVID-19 cases and reported below 1000 cases in a single day for the straight 6 days since October 15.

 

The death toll rose to 395 as four more people have succumbed to the infection in the last 24 hours, he said.

 

The single-day positivity rate increased to 12.36 per cent from 9.82 per cent on the previous day, while the positivity rate for the past six days stood at 12.16 per cent, he said.

 

At least 148 children and 4 frontline workers were among the newly infected people, he said. The number of Covid-19 active cases now stands at 10,058, while 708 people have recovered on Tuesday, taking the total recovery to 1,04,013.

 

The state has conducted more than 12.37 lakh sample tests for COVID-19 so far, of this 5,382 samples were tested on Tuesday.

 

Over 6.92 lakh people have been vaccinated till Wednesday, of which 4.96 lakh people have received full dose of Covid-19 vaccine, state immunisation officer Dr Lalzawmi said.
