Single-day recoveries surpassed fresh COVID-19 cases in Mizoram on Wednesday as atotal of 1,059 more people recuperated from the disease on Tuesday and 740 new infections were reported in the last 24 hours, a health department official said.
The fresh coronavirus cases pushed the tally in the northeastern state to 1,18,949. The death toll rose to 424 as five more people have succumbed to the infection. Altogether, 1,11,544 people have so far recovered from the disease, including 783 on Wednesday till 5 pm.
The recovery rate among coronavirus patients in the state now stands at 93.77 per cent against the national average of 98.19 per cent, while the death rate stands at 0.35 per cent, which is less than the national average of 1.33 per cent.
The single-day positivity rate dipped to 9.12 per cent from 9.43 per cent on the previous day, as the new patients were detected from 8,112 sample tests. Mizoram now has 6,981 active cases.
The state has so far conducted more than 12.86 lakh sample tests for COVID-19. Over 6.96 lakh people have been inoculated till Wednesday, with 5.1 lakh of them having received both doses of vaccines, state immunisation officer Dr Lalzawmi said.
