Mizoram on Thursday reported 547 new COVID-19 cases, 193 less than the previous day, with the tally increasing to 1,19,496, an official said.
The death toll rose to 425 as three more people have succumbed to the infection in the last 24 hours, he said One of the victims, who died at a PHC, was diagnosed with COVID-19 on Wednesday when he had gone for a medical check-up to the health centre. He died at the centre around 1:15 am on Thursday, the official said.
Aizawl district reported the highest number of fresh cases at 255, followed by Serchhip district at 66 and Champhai district at 52.
According to the official, the single-day positive rate was dipped to 8 per cent from 9.12 per cent the previous day the fresh cases were detected from 6,831 sample tests.
At least 139 children were among the newly infected people, he said. The number of active cases now stands at 6,891, while 428 people have recovered on Thursday, taking the total recoveries to 1,12,180.
The recovery rate among COVID-19 patients is 93.87 per cent and the death rate is 0.35 per cent. More than 12.93 lakh samples have been tested for COVID-19 so far, of which 6,831 samples were tested on Wednesday.
Over 6.97 lakh people have been inoculated till Thursday, with 5.12 lakh of them having received both doses of vaccines, state immunisation officer Dr Lalzawmi said.
