1,056 new COVID-19 cases, three deaths in past 2 days

1,056 new COVID- 19 cases were reported in the past two days, pushing the state tally to 1,28,604, while three more deaths took the death toll 460. 669 cases were reported on Saturday and 387 on Sunday.

 

The number of active caseloads now stands at 5,279 and the total recoveries reached 1,22,865 after 371 people were discharged from various COVID-19 care centres on Sunday as per the latest update at 5 pm. The recovery rate among COVID-19 patients is 95.53 per cent and the death rate is 0.35 per cent. While the single-day positivity rate on Saturday was 14 per cent, it was 12.78 per cent on Sunday.

 

At least 259 children were among the 1,056 newly infected people. The northeastern state has so far tested more than 13.72 lakh samples for COVID-19 and 2,829 samples were tested on Saturday. More than 7 lakh people have been inoculated till Saturday, out of which 5.36 lakh people have received full dose, state immunisation officer Dr. Lalzawmi said. According to the government sources, Aizawl district has so far reported the highest number of COVID-19 cases and fatalities at 7,8913 and 320 respectively. Lunglei district stands at second spot with 10,831 COVID-19 cases, it said. The southern district has so far reported 29 fatalities after Kolasib, which reported 30 deaths so far. None of the 11 districts are now COVID-19 free, the sources said.
