India logged 7,579 new Covid-19 cases, lowest in 543 days

NEW DELHI: India logged 7,579 new coronavirus infections on Tuesday, taking the country's total tally of Covid-19 cases to 3,45,26,480, the lowest in 543 days, according to the Union health ministry data. The figure is the lowest reported since May last year.

 

The country recorded 236 new deaths in the last 24 hours, taking total fatalities to 4,66,147.

 

Meanwhile, active Covid cases in the country have declined to 1,13,584. It comprises 0.33% of the total infections.

 

The national recovery rate is currently at 98.32%,the highest since March 2020, the ministry said.

 


India's daily positivity rate stands at 0.79%, which is less than 2% for last 50 days. Meanwhile the country's weekly positivity rate stands at 0.93% which is less than 2% for last 60 days.


Moreover, with the administration of 71,92,154 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s Covid-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 117.63 crore (1,17,63,73,499) as per provisional reports till 7 am today. This has been achieved through 1,21,69,135sessions.


More than 131 crore (1,31,45,03,460) vaccine doses have been provided to States/UTs so far through Govt of India (free of cost channel) and through direct state procurement category.


More than 21.92 crore (21,92,56,121) balance and unutilized Covid Vaccine doses are still available with the States/UTs to be administered.
