Mizoram logs 315 new Covid-19 cases

At least 315 people have tested positive for novel coronavirus in the last 24 hours, taking Mizoram's Covid-19 tally to 1,35,765, a health department official said on Friday.

 

The death toll rose to 504 as three more persons have succumbed to the infection during the same period, he said.

 

The single-day positivity rate increased to 9 per cent from 8.38 per cent on the previous day, he said. 33 students from two private nursing colleges, two private schools and Zoram Medical College (ZMC) were among the newly infected people, he said.

 

Aizawl district reported the highest number of fresh cases at 190, followed by Serchhip district (32) and Lunglei district (20).

 

The number of active cases now stands at 3,305, while 411 people have recovered on Friday, taking the total recoveries to 1,31,956.

 

The recovery rate among COVID-19 patients is 97.19 per cent and the death rate is 0.37 per cent. Mizoram has so far tested 14.39 lakh samples for Covid-19, of which 3,480 samples were tested on Thursday.

 

According to state immunisation officer Dr. Lalzawmi, 7.20 lakh people have been vaccinated with Covid-19 vaccine and 5.65 lakh of them have received full dose till Thursday.
