Mizoram on Wednesday registered 8.39 per cent single-day positivity rate of COVID-19 as 273 people have tested positive for the infection in the last 24 hours, 57 cases less than the previous day, a health department official said.
The fresh cases took the state's total count to 1,37,057, of which 2,730 are active, he said.
The death toll remained at 508 as no fatality was reported in the last 24 hours, he said.
He said that the single-day recoveries surpassed the fresh cases as 309 people have recovered on Wednesday, taking the total recoveries to 1,33,819.
The recovery rate among COVID- 19 infected people is 97.63 per cent, which is less than the national average of 98.36 per cent, while the death rate stands at 0.37 per cent against the national average of 1.37 per cent, he said.
The fresh 273 cases were reported from various districts with Aizawl registering the highest number at 146, followed by Lunglei (23) and Champhai (22), he said.
The state has so far tested more than 14.53 lakh samples for COVID19 and 3,252 samples were tested on Tuesday.
According to state immunisation officer Dr. Lalzawmi, over 7.23 lakh people have been inoculated and 5.71 lakh of them have received both doses of COVID-19 vaccine till Wednesday.
Of the total 1,37,057 COVID-19 cases, Aizawl district has reported the highest at 82,956, followed by Lunglei district at 11,730 and Kolasib district at 8,302, a bulletin by state information and public relations department said on Wednesday.
Saitual district has so far reported the least cases at 1,009, it said.
Of 508 total deaths, Aizawl district has so far reported the highest at 350, followed by Kolasib district (31) and Lunglei district (29), it said.
Khawzawl district has reported only one fatality so far, the bulletin added.
