Mizoram logs 320 new COVID-19 cases, 1 death



Mizoram COVID-19 count reached 1,37,377 on Thursday as 320 people have tested positive for the infection in the last 24 hours, an official statement said.


The death toll rose to 509 as a 99-year-old woman from Saitual district has succumbed to the infection during the same period, it said. The victim had been placed under home isolation, the statement said.


The single-day positivity rate increased to 10.49 per cent from 8.39 per cent of the previous day, it said.


The number of active cases now stands at 2,773, while 276 people have recovered on Thursday, taking the total recoveries to 1,34,095.


The recovery rate among COVID-19 patients is 97.61 per cent and the death rate is 0.37 per cent.


The state has so far tested more than 14.56 lakh samples for COVID-19 and 3,051 samples were tested on Tuesday.


According to state immunisation officer Dr. Lalzawmi, over 7.23 lakh people have been inoculated and 5.71 lakh of them have received both doses of COVID-19 vaccine till Wednesday.
